BLAST-Pro-Series

The latest Counter Strike: Global Offensive major of 2019 is happening this weekend in Moscow. The BLAST Pro Series: Moscow 2019. Only six teams have made it to the exclusive CS:GO event that will feature a group stage, a Grand Final and the BLAST Pro Standoff, a bonus showmatch with five 1v1 aim duels. The winner of the BLAST Pro Series will walk away with $125,000 USD and receive 10 BPS points as well.

The six lucky teams to originally qualify for this year’s BLAST Pro Series were MIBR, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, ENCE, Team Vitality and the winner between forZe and AVANGAR, who were supposed to be playing in the BLAST Pro Moscow CIS Play-In set to take place tomorrow night. MIBR, Natus Vincere and NIP qualified for the event by achieving circuit invites after their form in the CS:GO Pro Circuit this season.

ENCE and Team Vitality made it into the competition via wild card invites. And the sixth team was yet to be confirmed, initially depending on the result of the CIS Play-In Bo3 game. However, due to roster issues Team Vitality have pulled out of the event meaning both AVANGAR and forZe will now take their places in the next CS:GO major event of 2019.

“Following recent change, we’re unable to present a complete CSGO roster for the BLAST Pro Series,” a representative from Vitality confirmed on Twitter yesterday. “We apologize to the organization and the supporters for the inconvenience. We were looking forward to competing at our first BLAST event and hope to be able to be part of one in the future.”

The Grand Final is taking place on Saturday at 17:30 CEST. To get there, teams will need to finish in the top 2 of the group stages. The group stage format will be single round-robin, all matches Bo1, with the top two teams advancing to the Bo3 Grand Final on Saturday evening.

The team who finishes in third place in the group stages will qualify for the BLAST Pro Standoff – a prize bonus showdown, with five 1v1 aim duels. The team finishing in 3rd place in the group stages will have the opportunity to choose their opponent from the remaining teams who finish below them. The winner of the BLAST Pro Standoff will take home a bonus $20,000 USD prize.

The bonus game to be held just before the Grand Final on September 14th at 16:30 CEST, will be a showmatch played on the new BLAST Standoff Aim map. It will consist of five 1v1 aim duels, with different players for each match-up. Every match-up will be played with a different weapon in a specific order: M4A4/M4A1-S, Desert Eagle, AK47, CZ75 and finally AWP. The first player to 7 kills in each round will win their match-up. The team with the most kills at the end of the fifth round wins, most match-up wins being used in the event of a tie.

AVANGAR have to be the favourites coming into this weekends event after their performance at the StarLadder Berlin last weekend. After a disappointing 7th placed finish in the group stages, AVANGAR were able to make it all the way to the Grand Final to achieve a well-earned 2nd place and a runners-up prize of $150,000, losing to Astralis in the final 2 – 0.

ENCE are also a dark-horse for winning this event; they also showed excellent form at the StarLadder Berlin, finishing in 1st place during the group stages before a surprising loss to a mid-form Renegades team in the quarter finals. They will be keen to make up for this shock-result and could very easily go on to be crowned champions of Moscow.

So, will this event be EZ4ENCE? Or will AVANGAR be too thirsty for success after getting such a sweet taste in Berlin last weekend? Only time will tell, but you can depend on us here at Esportsnow to get the latest, most up-to-date news and results coming your way.
