The DreamHack Masters Malmö is taking place right now, featuring 16 of the best CS:GO teams out there and a total prize pool of $250,000 USD. The latest CS:GO event since the ESL One: New York last weekend, where Evil Geniuses took home the trophy, here is an update on everything that is happening in Malmö as we speak.

The DreamHack Masters Malmö will be split into the initial group stages and a playoff stage for the top 6 teams who advance from the group stages. The initial group stages will be in a double elimination format, each group made up of 8 teams, initial matches will be Bo1, with all subsequent matches in the group stages being Bo3. The top three teams from each group will advance to the playoff rounds, which will take place over the weekend, the grand final being held on October 6th at 17:00 CEST.

Group A was made up of Astralis, Team Envy, G2 Esports, FURIA Esports, ENCE, Fnatic, Team Vitality and TYLOO. In round 1 Astralis knocked out Team Envy, sending them into the lower bracket round 1, and sending Astralis into the upper bracket round 2. G2 Esports faced off against FURIA Esports, G2 advancing to round 2 and FURIA to the lower bracket round 1. ENCE defeated Fnatic and Team Vitality defeated TYLOO. This set up an upper bracket round 2 match-up between Astralis and G2 Esports. Astralis took the Bo3 game 2 – 0, while ENCE lost out to Team Vitality 2 – 1, meaning Astralis will face Team Vitality in the upper bracket round 3, the winner of which will get an automatic spot in the playoff rounds.

In the lower bracket rounds of Group A, Team Envy were matched up with FURIA, FURIA took the game 2 – 1, sending Envy home and setting up a lower bracket round 2 match-up with ENCE. FURIA defeated ENCE without much difficulty, winning 2 – 0, sending FURIA into the lower bracket round 3. Fnatic were matched up against TYLOO and took the game down 2 – 1, sending TYLOO home and setting up a Fnatic vs G2 Esports match up, that is taking place at the time of writing. Fnatic are winning 1 – 0, can they hang on and advance to the lower bracket round 3 game against FURIA? CS:GO fans will have to wait and see.

Group B featured Team Liquid, OpTic Gaming, Natus Vincere, North, mousesports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Evil Geniuses (winners of last weekend’s ESL One: New York) and Grayhound Esports. In round 1 Team Liquid lost out to OpTic Gaming, while Na’Vi defeated North. NIP beat mousesports and EG surprisingly lost out to Grayhound sending them into the lower bracket round 1.

OpTic were easily defeated by Na’Vi 2 – 0, sending them into the upper bracket round 3, where they await the winners of NIP vs Grayhound, also taking place at time of writing. NIP are currently winning 1 – 0, can they hold out and send Grayhound racing into the lower bracket second round? Keep your eyes here to find out!

Team Liquid faced off against North in the lower bracket round 1. Team Liquid won the game 2 – 1 and will face off against the losers of the NIP vs Grayhound game. In the other lb round 1 game, EG were matched up with mousesports. However, despite their recent excellent form in New York last weekend, mousesports won the game 2 – 0, sending EG home to count their winnings from last weekend.
