Echo-Fox-leaves-LCS

Echo Fox leaves LCS, this is confirmed by Riot Games, they will be selling the LCS slot currently owned by the North American organisation. Echo Fox leaves LCS was confirmed on August 13th by Riot Games after the team failed to meet the conditions of an agreement made earlier this year.

Riot Games and Echo Fox entered into an agreement earlier this week, that will see the organisation removed from the League of Legends LCS, and their slot being put up for sale ahead of the 2020 Spring Split that will take place early next year. Following a scandal involving a shareholder making racist remarks, Echo Fox was given an ultimatum by Riot Games, stating that they must remove the shareholder in question within 60 days. This timeframe was extended by 7 days, but the necessary changes were not made and the ultimatum ultimately not met.

Echo Fox leaves LCS after making an agreement with Riot Games. Reportedly the organisation tried to line up Kroenke Sports & Entertainment as a buyer for its LCS slot (with a current value of approximately $30 million USD. The sale however, fell through after Sentinels CEO Rob Moore filed a lawsuit against the company, accusing them of operating outside of a verbal agreement.

Riot Games will go ahead and sell the North American team’s slot, the majority of the proceeds going to Echo Fox. Unfortunately this action was necessary by Riot Games, who were put in a tough situation by the inaction of Echo Fox. Exactly what is happening at Echo Fox is anyone’s guess, though tales of their internal struggles are still coming out.

It seems that Echo Fox will not be the only major LoL franchise that will have a new look in 2020. Recently Immortals Gaming acquired Infinite Esports & Entertainment, meaning that OpTic Gaming will undergo a rebrand to Immortals next year.
