The ESL One: New York 2019 is taking place this weekend and will see 8 pro CS:GO teams battle it out for their share of the total prize pool of $200,000 USD. Astralis will be favourites coming into the competition after their recent performance at the StarLadder Berlin where they beat AVANGAR 2 – 0 in the Grand Final.
The group stages of the ESL One: New York will take place between the 26th and 27th in the Barclays Center in New York. There will be two groups of four and the group stages will be double elimination format, all matches will be Bo3. The top two teams will advance to the playoff rounds that will be taking place between the 28th and 29th; the semi finals will also be Bo3, while the grand final will be Bo5.
The total prize pool of $200,000 USD will be split amongst the top four teams. The 8 teams who have qualified for this year’s event has been split into two groups:
Group A will feature ENCE, eUnited, G2 Esports and Team Liquid. Group B Astralis, FaZe Clan, RNG Esports and OpTic Gaming. Astralis will surely be favourites for the ESL One: New York after their recent form at the StarLadder Berlin during which they beat AVANGAR 2 – 0 in the grand final.
Team Liquid are also strong candidates for the ESL One: New York trophy after winning the IEM Season XIV in Chicago back in July, after beating ENCE 3 – 0 in the final game. ENCE have shown inconsistent form in recent times, winning the group stages at the StarLadder Berlin and reaching the finals of the IEM Season XIV, though their form in the playoffs of the StarLadder and their most recent performances at the BLAST Pro Series: Moscow held earlier this month.
The Grand Finale will be held on September 29th at 19:00 CEST, who will make it that far, only time will tell, but you can be sure that we here at Esportsnow will be right there to find out. Keep your eyes peeled here for more news.
