NFL cornerback Richard Sherman is partnering up with Luminosity Gaming as a shareholder and global brand ambassador. This will involve Sherman appearing at Luminosity Gaming activations, and creating original content with fellow NFL players and the organisation’s Call of Duty team.

San Francisco 49ers star Richard Sherman has been confirmed as a new shareholder and global brand ambassador for Luminosity Gaming. Sherman, the 9-season NFL veteran and 4-time pro bowler, winner of 2014’s Super Bowl XLVIII as a Seattle Seahawk, will appear at Luminosity Gaming activations in the coming year, and as the organisation’s newly-named captain will be expected to consult on player personnel decisions.

Luminosity Gaming also announced plans to create original content with Sherman and other NFL players, such as videos in which NFL players will compete against the organisation’s Call of Duty team. Luminosity parent company Enthusiast Gaming was announced as the Seattle franchise owner last week for Activision Blizzard’s upcoming Call of Duty Global League.

In a recent news post, Steve Maida, Luminosity Gaming president had the following to say: “We are excited to announce this strategic relationship and welcome Richard into the Enthusiast family! … As a globally-recognized athlete and an avid gamer who was featured on the cover of Madden NFL 15, Richard is a perfect fit for us. With over 50 gaming influencers and esports professional athletes, we are looking forward to adding a Super Bowl champion to our roster.”

Enthusiast Gaming Holdings confirmed last week that it had completed the business transaction, becoming the parent company of Luminosity Gaming. The transaction involved Luminosity Gaming, J55 Capital Corp and Aquilini GameCo; the new company also acquired a non-controlling stake in the OWL Vancouver Titans, who Luminosity operates on behalf of the Aquilini Investment Group.
