The San Francisco Shock will take on the Vancouver Titans in the Overwatch League Final on Sunday night to see who will be crowned the Overwatch League champions for 2019. To make it to the final, the San Francisco Shock made it to the final through the losers’ final after losing to the Atlanta Reign 4 – 3 in the quarter finals. After a tight game the Reign were able to defeat the Shock in a surprising upset sending the Shock into the Losers’ Round 1 to face the London Spitfire.

Their match-up against the London Spitfire was a less close fought affair, the game finishing 4 – 0 sending the spitfire flying back to London and the Shock on into Round 2. Next up for the Shock were Californian rivals the Los Angeles Gladiators. This game was also a straight-forward affair for the Shock who ran out eventual 4 – 0 winners. It was the end of the road for the Gladiators but the Shock would move on to Round 3 to face the Hangzhou Spark who had just knocked out the Atlanta Reign 4 – 0 in the other Round 2 match-up.

The Spark may have thought themselves favourites going into the game, since it was the Reign who had sent the Shock into the Losers’ Rounds in the first place. They did not play like favourites however, the Shock winning their third game in a row 4 – 0, moving on to face the loser of the Winners’ Finals, the New York Excelsior. The Shock lived up to their name winning a record 4th 4 – 0 game in a row, sending the Excelsior back to New York and themselves to the Overwatch League Final and into a match-up against the formidable Vancouver Titans.

It will be America vs Canada, the Shock vs the Titans. And the Titans had a much more direct route to the Overwatch League Grand Final. Their playoff journey began with an electric match up against Korean side Seoul Dynasty that finished 4 – 2 in the Titans’ favour. It was the Los Angeles Gladiators next in the semi finals, and it seems there are patterns in life – the Titans beating the Gladiators 4 – 2 also.

Next up, the Winners’ Finals and the New York Excelsior, who nearly proved to be the Titans downfall. In a nail-biting final game the Titans hang on to beat the Excelsior 4 – 3 after the Excelsior pulled the Bo7 match-up back to 3 – 3 on Numbani. Shock vs Titans will take place on Sunday night at 21:00 CEST and will be streamed live on Twitch. Who will be crowned the Overwatch League champions for 2019, the Shock or the Titans?
