Last weekend saw the Intel Extreme Masters Season XIV taking place in Chicago, where CS:GO fans saw Team Liquid win again, the American team proving that 2019 really is their year. Some of the world’s best CS:GO teams travelled to Illinois to fight it out for a piece of the $250,000 prize-pool and the IEM Season XIV trophy.

Team Liquid have made it eight major CS:GO titles in 2019 by winning the IEM Season XIV, the North American team having yet to be bested in a Finale in 2019. Winning the IEM Season XIV trophy just further confirms Team Liquids current superiority, their no.1 world-ranking and should be a good bench-mark for the other CS:GO teams to reach for going forward in 2019.

By winning the IEM Season XIV trophy, TL also claimed top prize of $125,000 after beating ENCE in the Grand Finale. To get to the Grand Finale though, TL first had to make it out of a tough Group A that consisted of the Intel Grand Slam Champions, G2 Esports and Team Envy. TL started the tournament with a 2 – 0 win against Team Envy. They followed this up with a hard-earned 2 – 1 win against G2 Esports which sent them into the semifinals playoff round.

For ENCE it was an easier group. Their first match resulted in a 2 – 0 win against Renegades which they followed up with another 2 – 0 victory against Team Heroic also sending them directly into the semifinals. G2 faced off against MIBR in the decider match, MIBR surprising G2 with a 2 – 1 victory and setting up a semifinal round against ENCE. Heroic met Team Vitality in the other decider, Vitality managing to get revenge for their opening match in which Heroic won 2 – 0. This time however, Vitality managed a 2 – 1 win sending them into the semifinals against TL, and a chance for Vitality to put an end to TL’s winning streak.

In the first semifinals of the event, TL managed to pick up another 2 – 0 win sending Vitality home and Team Liquid into the IEM Season XIV Grand Finale. ENCE faced MIBR in the other semifinals matchup which was a closer-fought affair. The game finished 2 – 1 in the end setting up a Grand Finale between Team Liquid and ENCE, North America vs Europe. The game finished 3 – 0 in the end, Team Liquid making an easy time of the European side.
