SteelSeries Sponsors OG in time for The International Title Defense
SteelSeries and OG have partnered up in time for their The International title defense. The Reigning Dota 2 The International champions OG Esports are teaming up with peripherals maker SteelSeries it has been announced, just before the 2018 champions take part in The International 2019 which takes place in August. The Dota 2 major event has a prize-pool currently sitting at $31 million USD, and is still rising.
The International 2019 - A 2018 replay?
OG Esports who won The International 2018, the de facto Dota 2 world championship, have announced their partnership with video game peripherals maker SteelSeries. The announcement comes ahead of the 2019 adaptation of the same event, taking place in Shanghai and kicking off on the 15th of August. The current prize-pool sits at over $31 million USD and has majorly been funded through crowdfunding and is the highest prize-pool to date for the Dota 2 title.
The International 2019 dates
The tournament will start on 20th of August and ends on the 25th of August and will see big names like OG, Team Liquid, Team Secret and Virtus.pro battling it out for the title of Dota 2 World Champions. In last year’s rendition of the event OG won $11.2 million at The International which topped out at $25.5 million. The team, already sponsored by Red Bull and blockchain platform Socios will face stiff competition in their challenge to retain their title after last year’s victory.
About the partnership, SteelSeries CEO Ehtisham Rabbani stated that “OG is one of the biggest names in Esports, and an ever-present dominant force within the Dota 2 community.” “We’re proud to be working with them and providing the tools that they need to continue winning at the highest level”.
